Ultra Trail Wales website launched

As the countdown continues to the launch of the 2018 Ultra Trail Wales, an event website has been unveiled to help inform competitors and supports of this exciting new 50-mile ultra trail running event, based out of the historic market town of Dolgellau in south Gwynedd, Wales.

Race organiser Matt Ward explains:

“This is V1 really. The site is a nice intro to the event and will act as a good digital base for UTW in the first 6-12 months. However, we feel that as the stature of the event unfolds over this coming year we will need a more informative and inclusive website that also encompasses more resource of our event partners and the wider Dolgellau community.

“We also realise that we need a bilingual website that also reflects the strong Welsh cultural connection.”

One principal reason is the cost of generating such a website and as Matt points out funding and financial resources are very important in making this happen for the not-for-profit event.

“There are major costs involved in putting on Ultra Trail Wales, and though we hope to generate a good chunk of income from race entries, we want to be able to plough as much money as possible back in to the event and to be able to donate to those community groups and organisations that are helping us make the event happen.

“Going forward we will be seeking a major headline sponsor, race route director Ashley Charlwood from no-mad running will be working closely with the Snowdonia National Park and Natural Resources Wales on that 50-mile route and we will be unveiling some exciting collaborations with various partners and ambassadors for the race. Essentially it is going to be an exciting 12 months!”

Entries to the 2018 Ultra Trail Wales race go live on the 26th of August 2017, and with a limit of 500 runners race organisers are expecting a high-demand for places for the race which takes place on the 25th of August 2018.
